The RRCA was founded in 1995. The idea behind
it was to form a world wide association of record collectors, musicians,
media people, store operators, record companies and other music industry
types to achieve five goals:
- Locate and obtain music recordings for collecting.
- Archive the history of our favourite music form.
- Provide a source of accurate music industry news reporting following standardized journalistic procedures.
- Ensure fair practice standards in the marketplace on all levels of music production.
- Allow a promotional outlet to artists and companies producing quality rock music.
The original idea was to be a record collectors club. It used to be that if you were a record collector you had three choices:
1) Go it alone.
2) Go it with a buddy.
3) Join a locals-only record club.
The idea behind the RRCA was to unite record collectors around the world in one big network to make record collecting an easier task. No longer were records located in other parts of the country or world un-obtainable. Today, RRCA is no longer a collector's club but instead has become a central database for record collectors where they can obrain reviews, news, biographies and even shop for their favorite artists or collector music.
The RRCA is an Internet based operation.
To us music is timeless - an old record is as fashionable as the latest CD.
